If you still need to complete your second OIS activity, or if you would like to make up two missed daily work assignments, you can participate in the Great Thanksgiving Listen.
This project was started a few years ago, and it’s an ongoing effort to record stories for normal, everyday Americans about their experiences. You simply need to:
- Download the StoryCorps app on your iPhone or Android
- Find an American willing to participate (a teacher, friend, roommate, etc.). If you need to send an email, consider this sample template.
- Prepare a list of questions, using this worksheet if you like. Be sure to review the sample questions so that you have the best interview possible.
- Conduct the interview in a quiet, comfortable (public) place. Use the StoryCorps app to record the interview, and simply follow the prompts it gives you.
- Discuss with the interviewee if you/they want to publish the interview to the Library of Congress, or keep it private. The app allows you to do both.
- Thank your interviewee!!
To submit:
After uploading your interview, visit ARCHIVE.STORYCORPS.ORG and login to your account from a desktop or your mobile device. You can edit your title, summary, and keywords and email me a link to the interview.
If you/your interviewee does not want to publish, email me the person’s name; date, length, and location of the interview; and a short (200-300 word) summary of what you discussed.
