Opinion Poll

For Monday, 10/23:

With your presentation group, work together to begin exploring people’s opinions about the topic you’ve selected or are considering.

OPINION POLL

Write at least 5-6 questions that you will use in an informal “opinion poll” about people’s opinions on U.S. Over the weekend, each person should poll at least 10 people (preferably Americans, but whomever you poll please use English). Be sure to record their gender, age, and nationality.

When writing questions, consider using a scale.

For example: “How satisfied are you with how the current healthcare system works for you and your family?” —Very satisfied, —mostly satisfied, —somewhat unsatisfied, —very unsatisfied

INFORMAL PRESENTATION

Then, please work together to prepare a brief, informal presentation (3-4 minutes) in which you will share your findings with the class. You will have a few minutes at the beginning class to meet with your group, but please have visuals prepared and shared (Google slides, PPT) either by email or in one of the group member’s Kaizenas before arriving in class.

Include:

  • Report of the results using a variety of quantifying words/phrases and specific numbers, percentages, ratios, and fractions. (ex: “About two-thirds of the people said they thought obtaining higher education was ‘very important.'”)
  • Discussion of results you find most interesting, surprising, confusing, etc.
  • At least two visuals (a graph, chart, etc.); however, it does not need to be a full PPT presentation.

In your presentation, please pay particular attention to the pronunciation of numbers, percentages, and ratios.

**For your group presentation, you should continue to poll more people; for now, 20 minimum.**
