Recording: Academic Terms

Due: Mon, 9/18

To help you practice both pronunciation elements (vowel sounds, stress, reduction, etc.) that we’ve discussed, and to help you learn new vocabulary, please complete the following:

  1. Review Academic Word List 2C. If you already know all of the words on this list, choose another list (the higher the number, the more advanced the vocabulary).
  2. Select 6 words from the list that you do not know, or that you are not sure of the exact meaning.
  3. Look up these words in merriam-webster.com or ludwig.guru, and find one example of each word in content. Write down the full sentences that include these words, or write your own, being sure to keep the meaning of the word accuate.
  4. In a private Kaizena recording with me, copy and paste these sentences into a post title “Recording: Academic Terms.”
  5. Reply to that post with a recording of yourself reading those sentences, paying attention to accurate vowel sounds, syllables, and stress.

**You might have noticed that the Rachel’s English link for the last assignment was not the “5 Strategies for Listening.” Apparently this WordPress site published a previous version of that post, so apologies. Here is the correct link, if you’d like to watch that short video.
