“This Call May be Recorded” Listening Exercise

Due: Monday, 10/30

For our mini-unit on jobs and professional communication, please listen to this podcast clip, and complete the listening activity you received in class (or print a sheet here), bring it to our next class meeting. We will discuss your answers in class.

In addition, please answer the following comprehension questions on a separate sheet that you handwrite or type/print and bring to class:

  1. What is the position that the job applicants are applying to, and what does Ozga explain are some of the expectations/features of the job?
  2. Of all the answers from the “prospective employees” that we hear in the podcast, which two answers seem to respond most effectively to Ozga’s interview questions? What makes these two answers the most effective?
  3. The call center job doesn’t pay much compared to other professions, yet Heather and John are quite excited to learn that they’ve been hired. Why are they so excited even though it’s such a low-paying job?
